Since the Tiger Trophy was adopted as a regatta to raise money for the John Merricks Sailing Trust (JMST) with a large proportion of the entry fee going directly to the JMST, this has proven one of the most popular handicap events of the winter. It takes place on Rutland Water in the centre of the country. The event also features an extensive social programme with the Tiger Dinner taking place on the Saturday night.
The Tiger Bangers & Mash Dinner on Saturday night (31st January) can be booked on-line with entry. This was John’s favourite and will be served with green peas and onion gravy for £7.50 pp with £2.50 going to the John Merricks Sailing Trust. If a pudding is required, apple pie and custard is offered for an extra £2.50 with coffee included afterwards.
There is no dress code this year so scruffy sailor mode is the order of the day. Everards Tiger Bitter will be on sale for £3 a bottle with funds again going to the JMST.
The Tony Everard Trophy will be presented on Saturday evening to the first crew on the Leader Board after the days racing.
