Description

The Yorkshire Dales Brass Monkey provides the perfect opportunity to get back on the water between Christmas and New Year.

This popular one-day event normally features two average-lap handicap races, with the entry divided into suitable starting groups according to the size and make-up of the fleet. Great Lakes Handicaps are used to bring together boats ranging from high-performance dinghies to traditional displacement classes.

The Brass Monkey is well known for competitive racing, a welcoming atmosphere and hearty shoreside hospitality. Previous entry packages have even included a hot lunch, pudding or cake, and tea and coffee—particularly welcome after a winter race in the Yorkshire Dales.

About Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club

Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club is based at Grimwith Reservoir near Skipton. At almost 1,000 feet above sea level, it is one of the highest sailing venues in Britain and can deliver brisk winds and genuine winter sailing conditions.

Surrounded by dramatic Yorkshire Dales scenery, the reservoir offers a memorable setting for racing. The club has developed an excellent reputation for its friendly welcome, efficient organisation and generous hospitality, making the Brass Monkey a firm favourite on the SailJuice calendar.
