Description

The Bloody Mary is one of Britain’s most famous winter handicap races and one of the landmark events in the Navigators & General SailJuice Winter Series.

The entire event is decided by a single pursuit race. The slowest classes start first, followed at calculated intervals by progressively faster boats. The challenge for the early starters is to remain ahead, while the quicker classes race against the clock as they work their way through a large and often tightly packed fleet.

The result is easy to understand and exciting to follow: when the finishing signal sounds, the order of the boats on the water determines the finishing positions. With a large entry and an enormous range of dinghy classes, the Bloody Mary provides a unique test of speed, endurance and tactical judgement.
