NAVIGATORS & GENERAL SAILJUICE WINTER SERIES – How businesses can get ‘One Hit’ access to the UK Dinghy Market

The Sailjuice Winter Series enters Season 18 with a new title sponsor - Navigators & General - but there are other sponsorship opportunities available if you’re looking for a proven way to promote your brand or product across the UK dinghy scene...

It’s still a few months away from the Navigators & General SailJuice Winter Series entering its 18th season, so it’s an ideal time for marine brands to join as sponsors and/or supporters of this classic dinghy racing circuit.

While the one-design dinghy racing scene traditionally winds down over the winter, the SailJuice series keeps the UK’s most passionate, active, and dedicated dinghy sailors on the water from November through to February.

For marine manufacturers, chandleries, and service providers, this winter window represents a concentrated, high-value marketing opportunity that is difficult to match during the busy summer months.

John Tuckwell, Business Development Manager at Navigators & General, offered his reasons why he and his team decided to back the Series: “We’re delighted to be title sponsor of the Navigators & General SailJuice Winter Series for the 26/27 season. This series brings together sailors from across the UK and from an incredible variety of classes, making it a perfect fit for Navigators & General as a specialist insurer supporting almost every type of dinghy class on the water.”

Direct access to keen and active racing sailors

Between them co-founders of the series, Simon Lovesey and Andy Rice have been organising the circuit for almost 20 years. “Unlike single-class events, the mass-participation handicap format of the SailJuice Winter Series brings together an incredible variety of classes,” says Simon Lovesey. “From hiking singlehanders to high-performance asymmetric skiffs and small keelboats, sailors of all backgrounds compete side-by-side. Across the season we’re getting not far short of 100 different classes taking part, which creates a huge amount of interest in the quieter months of the year.”

For sponsors, this provides a highly diverse yet targeted audience. Brands aren’t just reaching one niche class; they are gaining exposure to the entire spectrum of the UK dinghy racing community. Already the specialist insurance company Navigators & General have stepped in as title sponsors after Selden Mast occupied that space for eight years previously.

“Supporting the SailJuice Winter Series is an unparalleled way for marine businesses to stay front-of-mind when sailors are actively evaluating their gear,” says Andy Rice. “Winter is when sailors are taking stock of the past season and deciding what they’re going to do in the coming year, and what they’re going to buy or upgrade to help them with their racing plans. Not only does the Series occupy a long period over the winter while there’s not much going on – from November through to end of February – there’s also a lot of chat around the Series throughout the year. Brands get a lot of exposure, much more so than if they back a single event like a five-day class national championship, for example.”

Here’s a breakdown of the benefits of sponsorship

  • Sustained Multi-Month Exposure: Unlike a standalone weekend championship, the Series spans seven major events over four months, providing sponsors with continuous editorial, social, and on-the-water brand visibility throughout the winter.
  • National Reach at Iconic Venues: From the Yorkshire Dales to Queen Mary just outside of London, the Series travels to some of the UK’s most popular insland sailing clubs, allowing brands to connect with regional markets across the country.
  • Digital Integration & GPS Tracking: Through partnership with SailRacer, sponsors benefit from brand placement on live GPS tracking screens, online entry portals, and post-race analysis.
  • The opening event at the RYA Dinghy Show: The Series culminates in a prestigious, high-profile prizegiving at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show in Farnborough, offering sponsors excellent exposure at the biggest dinghy event of the year.
