Create results based on your chosen criteria and see how you compare with similar boats and sailors.
It’s like competing in your own tailored fleet—against only the boats that match your selected class, age, type or other criteria. Follow your results across each event and see how your performance develops throughout the season.
One of the great strengths of the SailJuice Winter Series is its diversity. Sailors of different ages, backgrounds and experience levels compete alongside an enormous range of dinghy classes, from modern high-performance designs to boats that have been racing for decades.
But the overall results only tell part of the story.
Our Extracted Results take the main SailJuice results and automatically create additional rankings, allowing competitors to see how they performed against sailors or boats with similar characteristics.
The objective is simple: to create more meaningful races within the race, without changing the official overall results.
How Extracted Results Work
All rankings are extracted from the same underlying SailJuice results.
Rather than recalculating a race with a different handicap, competitors who do not meet the selected criteria are simply removed from the results. The remaining competitors can then see their position relative to others within that group.
In effect, you are still racing exactly the same event, on the same course and using the same corrected results — but viewing the outcome through a particular category.
This makes it possible to follow your progress not only in the overall Series, but against sailors of a similar age, boat type or other category.
Sailor Categories
The Series currently provides extracted rankings for:
- Top Lady
- Junior
- Youth
- 19–30
- 31–60
- Masters
These provide another way of recognising achievement across the very broad demographic competing in SailJuice events.
Boat-Type Rankings
Boats can also be grouped according to their general configuration:
- Fast Symmetric (FAST S)
- Fast Asymmetric (FAST A)
- Slow Symmetric (SLOW S)
- Slow Asymmetric (SLOW A)
These extracts make for some particularly interesting comparisons. Instead of only seeing how your boat performs against the entire handicap fleet, you can compare your results with boats of broadly similar style and performance.
Old Boats
The Old Boats ranking celebrates sailors competing in older designs and boats.
SailJuice events regularly bring together some of the newest dinghy designs with boats that have been competing for many decades. The extracted ranking provides a way of recognising the performance of these older boats within the modern handicap fleet.
Forces Challenge
The Forces Challenge provides an extracted ranking for eligible competitors associated with the Armed Forces, creating another competition running across the Series alongside the main results.
More Than 100 Individual Class Rankings
Perhaps the most powerful part of the system is the ability to extract results for 100+ individual dinghy classes represented across the Series.
Select your class and the results are filtered so that you can see how you performed against sailors racing the same type of boat.
This effectively creates a class series within SailJuice.
A class may have boats competing at different events throughout the winter, and the extracted results bring those performances together. Sailors can therefore follow their position against fellow class members across the season, even where individual events do not have a separate class start.
For class associations, it also provides another way of tracking participation and performance across some of the UK’s biggest winter handicap events.
One Result Set – Hundreds of Ways to Explore It
The important principle behind Extracted Results is that they don’t replace or alter the official SailJuice results.
There is still one set of race results.
The extraction system simply provides different ways of looking at those results.
Whether you want to know where you rank amongst the youth sailors, the Masters, asymmetric boats, older boats or simply the other sailors in your own class, the aim is to make the huge depth of competition within SailJuice easier to discover.
