Description

The John Merricks Tiger Trophy is one of the biggest and most prestigious weekends in the Navigators & General SailJuice Winter Series.

Saturday traditionally features three average-lap handicap races, with Fast and Slow groups racing on separate starts. The fleet then returns on Sunday for a pursuit race, when the slower classes set off first and the fastest boats begin the chase.

The combination rewards consistency across the handicap races while retaining the spectacle and excitement of a pursuit finale. Separate trophies have traditionally recognised achievements including the leading youth, junior and all-female teams, as well as the winners of the handicap and pursuit elements.

The event commemorates Olympic silver medallist John Merricks and supports the work of the John Merricks Sailing Trust.
